Come celebrate this world famous festival in Munich as well as experience Bavarian culture, history, museums, Dachau concentration camp, Neuschwanstein Castle, bike tours and of course more beer!  Munich’s reputation for being Europe’s most fun city is well-deserved!

  • Week 2 - September 22-24
  • Week 3 - September 29-October 1

2024, 2025 & 2026 dates available for booking!

Itinerary

Friday - Day 1 Arrival on your own to Munich with check-in available from 3pm (you will be sent exact instructions on how to arrive, and if arriving early you can leave your bags with reception). Free day to enjoy Munich and the Oktoberfest!  Tents start serving beer & food at 10am, and close at 10:30pm

*Transportation Package - Late Thursday night departure Florence/Rome/Prague for overnight ride to Munich and very early morning arrival Friday

**Opening weekend the Oktoberfest starts on Saturday.  On Friday of the opening weekend you'll have the option to do a walking tour of the city starting at 10am. This tour is a professionally guided 2.5-hour walking tour that will take you to many of Munich’s major landmarks and highlights. You will visit the Frauenkirche, see the world-famous Glockenspiel, go past the iconic Hofbräuhaus, and much more to tick off the main sights of the city's old town.  There are other possible tours you can do this day, and even a bike tour.

Saturday - Day 2 Breakfast provided and free day to enjoy Munich and the Oktoberfest (this is an all day, all night event for most!).

Non-Oktoberfest options for the day are a trip to the Dachau concentration camp & memorial, a bike tour to cruise around the city and learn its history (and make a stop at one of the world's largest beer gardens!), a visit to some of Munich’s many famous museums, or a trip to the Neuschwanstein Castle, the real life inspiration for the Disney castle. You will be able to book these in advance.

Sunday - Day 3  Breakfast included. Check out, free day and departure on your own (if you have a later departure you can leave your bags with reception at the hostel).  Grab one last beer at the "Fest!

***Transportation Package - Approx. 2pm departure time from Munich for those who booked package with transportation

****Trip Style - This is an independent trip ideal for groups of friends, family, couples, or even for an independent-minded solo traveler. It is designed as a travel & destination package, not solely as a "group trip" (and this is not a trip where you want to be hampered down with a group as there are so many people in Munich for the Oktoberfest at this time).  If you book the "shared dorm hostel" package, and if you book the "private" room package then you of course will be in your own private room. There are no activities planned during this trip as it's all about Oktoberfest Friday & Saturday (and this is where you'll be able to meet countless people from around the world)!  You will receive a detailed info packet by email with numerous recommendations for any group activities or tours, sights/museums and food/drink/nightlife info, as well as detailed Oktoberfest info and recommendations.

The city is flat with nice wide bike paths so the ride (approx. 3.5 hours, including beer garden stop) couldn't be easier or more comfortable! Tour covers the major landmarks within the old town, including riding along the Isar River, seeing the famous river surfers, the English Garden and stopping at the Chinese beer garden (the 2nd largest beer garden in Munich!) with time for some beer & food. Price - €35

- Beer walking tour. There’s not a better way to see the city & sights, get some great information and entertainment as well as drink some fine German beer while admiring beautiful Munich! The guides are informative, really funny and energetic and there will be KEGS OF BEER with us!  There will be stops for drinking games and other fun activities involving beer (after all it is the capital of beer, Munich).  The cost for this nearly 2 hour tour is only 20 Euro for our own private group!  Keep in mind too that it works out to be about 2 Liters per person (over half a gallon) and they cost 11 Euro for one at Oktoberfest, so in addition to getting your monies worth in beer you also get a super fun and informative tour around Munich’s historic center. Price - €30

- Dachau Concentration Camp - Easy do it yourself trip to the Dachau concentration camp.  It takes 25-30 minutes to get there by metro.  Museum entrance is free. There is also a fully guided option available for €40

- Neuschwanstein Castle - an optional trip to the famous inspiration for the Disneyland Castle, Kind Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein Castle nestled in the gorgeous Bavarian Alps! Price - €65
