Experience the world famous Carnival in Italy's legendary city of canals. With nearly 500 bridges that cross Venice's waterways, it is one of the world’s great destinations from its historic architecture, markets, opera singing gondoliers, Rialto Bridge & Piazza San Marco (and of course Carnival)!
*Venice Carnival day trip also available with Florence two-night weekend trip (from Rome or Fly-In)
Trip meets at 6:00am at the Roma Tiburtina train station, or 7:30am at the Florence SMN train station (you will receive an email with exact departure place and time) to make our trip to Venice. Arrivall time to Venice will be approx. noon.
When we reach the famous island of Venice the trip leader will head out through the winding, ancient maze of streets of Venice, eventually ending in the massive St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco) which is the center of the Carnival festivities (though you'll see and experience many lively spots and crowds along the way) for those that want to join.
For those that want to wander Venice and explore on their own, or see areas off of the main island, the trip leader will show you the main boat terminal to take a Vaporetto or water taxi to reach destinations like the glass blowing island of Murano, the beautiful island of Burano, the beach area of Lido, etc...
This is a very independent trip (especially due to the crowds all over the city) so you can spend your time accordingly in Venice and experience the day exploring the events of Carnival to make the most of your time!
Departure time back to Florence at approx. 6:00pm with arrival at approx. 10-10:30pm. Departure time back to Rome at approx. 7:00pm with arrival at approx. 12:00am.
